New Forest in the USDF Top Ten AA

November 14, 2015: We’re happy to share there’s a New Forest in the TOP TEN United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Year-End Rankings this year!  Congratulations to Karen Erickson and her stallion, Brando (Orlando x Elvira/Justice HR), on finishing tenth out of 277 qualified participants (horses and ponies) in the nation for USDF Adult Amateur at First Level, with a very impressive 70.221%!  Karen imported Brando from the Netherlands as a coming 3-year-old, and has brought him along herself, while working with her trainer and a few outside clinicians in Clovis, CA.  This dynamic duo is definitely a testament to what can happen when talent, hard work and dedication come together. Congratulations Karen and Brando! See all the USDF Year-End Rankings...

Forrest Flame [1999-2015]

September 7, 2015: It is with saddened hearts that we have to note the passing of Jacodi’s Anja’s Amoz aka Forrest Flame.  A dynamic chestnut stallion, imported from the Netherlands by Lesley Feakins of Trevelyan Farm, he took the North American sport pony world by storm, showing just how influential New Forests can be!  Forrest successfully competed up through the levels of dressage, qualifying for Regional Championships up to Fourth Level, while schooling Prix St. George and Intermediate - all in addition to a heavy breeding schedule.  And while his performance career may have been focused in dressage, his jumping talents were also undeniable, earning 9’s for his jumping under saddle and cross-country tests at one of his stallion licensing’s. Given his great temperament (a 10!) and ridability, it’s no wonder he later went on to be an FEI Schoolmaster for his junior owner.  With offspring scattered across the US and Canada, we know his legend will live on~

National Dressage Pony Cup Sponsorship

September 4-6, 2015: 2015 marked the third year of the NFPSNA sponsoring the National Dressage Pony Cup, held annually in Lexington, Kentucky at the famed Kentucky Horse Park.  This year, the distinguished honor of high point New Forest Pony went to an oversized New Forest gelding, named Fiddler III.  While he cannot compete in the pony classes, being oversized does have an advantage - being able to compete in the FEI classes with an adult rider.  Which is exactly what Fiddler and rider Kari McFadden did, earning an impressive average score of 64.14% at FEI Prix St. Georges in the Open Division. Fiddler (a 2005 purebred New Forest gelding by Jacodi’s Anja’s Amoz aka Forrest Flame and out of Iris, by Aladin) was bred by Lesley Feakins of Trevelyan Farm in Lancaster, PA and is owned by Lori Cole of OH. Congratulations to all! Read more about the National Dressage Pony Cup...

First Level Medal Winners

July 25-26, 2015: NFPSNA member Claudia Tomaselli of Kennesaw, GA is a wonderful example of someone who sets riding goals each year and then achieves them!  This year, she and her imported 1997 purebred New Forest gelding, Marnehoeve’s Forever* aka A Diamond Is Forever* (Oleander (Noordererf Chap x Betsie) x Young Winsomes Felista (Dukes Forest Antares x Winsomes Fionella),) set out to see if they could win the Lisa Seger Insurance Adult Amateur Medal Finals with the Georgia Combined Training & Dressage Association. This award is given out to encourage Adult Amateurs to compete at First Level, with the winner having to first earn qualifying scores at First Level Test 3, then compete at the Finals at that same level/test. Our dynamic duo qualified for the Finals at earlier shows and then scored an impressive 69.706% to take the Medal on July 26, 2015 in Georgia.  Read more about the Lisa Seger Insurance AA Medal Program...

New Forests Featured in The Paisley

February 3, 2015: New Forests in the news will always make the NFPSNA smile.  Therefore, we were very happy to see the breed featured in the January/February 2015 issue of The Paisley Magazine.  The magazine, which focuses on ponies and smaller equines, published several nice articles, including some wonderful history on the breed and how it came to be.  There were also several feature articles on New Forest “stars”, such as Forrest Nymph, the little red-headed mare who is taking the Eventing world by storm. And, a heartfelt thank you and congratulations to one of our Junior Members, Daniella Tomaselli!  This talented young author penned not one, but two (!) articles that were published by the magazine.  One featured several accomplishments of talented New Forest ponies in America as well as Europe.  And the other retells the adventures Daniella and her mother, Claudia, had as they prepped for and then attended the National Dressage Pony Cup in 2014.  Definitely worth a read!
